Privacy Policy
01. Data Controller & Scope
This Privacy Policy outlines how SoundDeck ("we", "our", or "us"), available via getsounddeck.com and the Steam distribution platform, collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website, use our desktop software, or interact with our WebRTC/WebSocket companion portal.
For inquiries regarding data protection, you may reach our compliance team directly at: [email protected].
02. Information We Collect
We practice strict data minimization. Depending on how you interact with SoundDeck, we process:
- Local Software Operations: No personal identification data is transmitted. Hotkey definitions, sound paths, volume levels, and audio device mappings are saved exclusively on your local disk in
%APPDATA%/SoundDeckor local persistent storage. - Remote Companion Portal (getsounddeck.com/portal): When you connect a mobile device or browser to your desktop instance, audio triggers and room codes travel directly over your local area network (LAN) or direct encrypted WebRTC/WebSocket P2P channels. No audio payloads or room keys are stored on our servers.
- Website Server Logs: When you access getsounddeck.com, our Nginx web servers temporarily log standard HTTP network metadata (IP address, user agent, requested URI, timestamp) solely for cybersecurity defense, DDoS mitigation, and server reliability. These logs are purged automatically.
- Steam Platform Transactions: All financial transactions, billing details, and purchases are handled directly by Valve Corporation (Steam). SoundDeck does not receive or store your credit card or billing details.
03. Peer-to-Peer Communication & WebRTC
SoundDeck’s remote producer companion uses secure peer-to-peer signalling protocols. Room codes (e.g., SD-XXXX-PRO) and ephemeral cryptographic session tokens exist solely in memory during active pairing. Once the session ends or you toggle the companion deck off, all active session tokens are instantly destroyed.
04. Cookies & Local Storage
The SoundDeck website utilizes strictly essential browser storage (such as localStorage) to remember your volume level preferences, dark theme configuration, and cookie consent choices. We do not deploy third-party advertising cookies, tracker beacons, or invasive analytics pixels. For comprehensive details, please consult our Cookie Policy.
05. GDPR & User Rights (EEA & UK Citizens)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), you hold specific statutory rights regarding any personal data we process:
- Right of Access: You may request confirmation of whether your data is processed.
- Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You may request deletion of any telemetry or contact records.
- Right to Rectification & Restriction: You have the right to correct inaccurate data or restrict processing.
- Right to Data Portability: You may export your configuration files directly from the application at any time.
06. Third-Party Services & Integrations
SoundDeck integrates with third-party gaming voice software (Discord, Steam Voice, TeamSpeak, OBS Studio) via native Windows Virtual Audio Cables and WASAPI audio endpoints. SoundDeck interacts with these platforms purely as a hardware microphone input device; we do not read your private chat logs, contacts, or account credentials.
07. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect software updates, statutory amendments, or new platform features. Any modifications will be posted to this page with an updated Effective Date.
